Streets of Love
Privacy policy
Last updated 4 Nov 2026
Streets of Love is an 18+ dating app. You walk a virtual town and talk to other adults. AfroEat LTD, a company in England and Wales, is the controller of your personal data. Contact us at info@afroeat.co.uk.
This is a plain-English draft for legal review. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor.
Who this is for
You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth and we do not let under-18s finish sign-up. Do not use the app if you are under 18.
What we collect
- Email address, and a password that our auth provider stores as a hash. We never see the password itself.
- Date of birth. We keep the date private and show other people your age only.
- Photos you upload, your display name, and the city you pick.
- Profile look (the avatar choices), a short bio, and who you are interested in.
- Street chats, direct messages, interests, and matches.
- Blocks and reports.
- Whether you are open to chat.
- An approximate position inside the virtual town, while you are online, so other people in that same city can see you on the street. This is not your real-world location. We do not use GPS, and we do not save that in-world position.
Why we use it, and the lawful basis
- To create your account, show your profile, and let you chat and match: contract.
- To check you are 18: legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping children off a dating app.
- To handle blocks, reports, and abuse: legitimate interests in keeping people safe.
- To send login, confirmation, and password emails: contract.
- Who you are interested in can reveal or suggest your sexual orientation. That is special-category data. We rely on your explicit consent, which you give by creating an account after reading this policy. You can change that choice in your profile, or delete the account.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising profiles.
Who processes it
- Supabase — database, login, file storage for photos, and the live street connection.
- Vercel — hosting the app.
- Resend — sending account emails.
These companies may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we use a lawful transfer tool, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK adequacy regulations.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while the account is open. When you delete the account, we delete your profile, photos, the messages you sent, your blocks, and reports tied to you, and we close the login. The other person’s own messages in a chat can remain in their account. In-world positions are not stored. Our processors may keep short security logs, then delete them on their usual schedule.
Cookies and storage on your device
We do not use advertising cookies. The app stores your login session, and a few small preferences, in local storage on your device. That includes whether you have seen the intro, a zoom hint, and a short record of how often you have said hello, so the app can slow repeat taps. You can clear this in your browser. Clearing it signs you out.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of your data, and you can object to processing we base on legitimate interests. You can withdraw the consent for “interested in” by changing it or by deleting the account. Email info@afroeat.co.uk. We aim to reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Delete your account
In the app, open Me and choose Delete my account. We ask you to confirm. That calls a function which only deletes the account you are logged in as.
